Chris' affinity for and experience with teaching stretches from private cello lessons on Classical repertoire to alternative styles of music and developing skills such as improvising with various ensembles.

As a private cello teacher, Chris' approach to each student begins precise eyes and ears for technical foundations, which he develops using a combination of études and original materials for technique. Out of this foundation comes a facility for tackling repertoire that both inspires the student and ensures their continual growth. Chris' students have often received performance opportunities as soloists in recitals and as chamber musicians, such as in a cello choir.

Chris has taught cellists of all ages and abilities, including beginners and university music majors. Their accolades have included Steinway Young Artsts, membership in the Illinois All-State Honors Orchestra, and principal cellist positions in multiple Illinois All-District Orchestras. For more information, contact Chris!

Chris' experience coaching and conducting ensembles includes leading orchestras of all ages and experience in standard repertoire, and also leading the development of skills such as improvisation with alternative styles of music. When working with young ensembles, he aims to facilitate transformative musical experiences by coupling a rigor for technical mastery with enthusiasm for creativity.
